The Association of Environmental Authorities (AEA), the American Water Works Association – New Jersey Section, and Jersey Water Works today announced that nominations are now being accepted for the inaugural New Jersey One Water Awards, which will recognize water infrastructure programs or projects that address water issues on a holistic and sustainable level.
The three statewide organizations are jointly sponsoring the new One Water Awards to spotlight those programs that exemplify integration across the water cycle, that reflect collaboration, innovation, and public education, and that advance long-term sustainability by meeting multiple needs and generating multiple benefits.
“The New Jersey One Water Awards is a great way to highlight and bring awareness to the programs and projects in New Jersey that provide real solutions for the water issues of today,” said Brian Carr, the vice chairman of AWWA-NJ. “The New Jersey section of the American Water Works Association is looking forward to being a part of this new award program.”
“Every day, AEA member authorities and our colleagues in the New Jersey water community are finding successful ways to address water challenges,” said Peggy Gallos, AEA’s executive director. “In recognizing those efforts, the One Water Awards program will ensure that advanced approaches and best practices are more widely embraced.”
“This is an exciting collaboration with AEA and AWWA, where together we will spotlight those programs in the state that manage water holistically in ways that benefit their host communities,” said Mark Mauriello, co-chair of Jersey Water Works, the cross-sector collaborative focused on upgrading the state’s water infrastructure.
The One Water Awards will be presented in three categories: public, private and non-profit/academic. Eligible projects or programs must be located in New Jersey and, for projects, must have been completed within the past five years or, if under construction, must be at least 50 percent complete. Submissions must be received by midnight Sept. 30, 2017. For complete awards program rules, visit New Jersey One Water Awards.
Honorees will be announced at the AEA conference in November 2017 and recognized at events including the Jersey Water Works conference in December 2017 and the AWWA conference in March 2018.
